As part of our ongoing partnership with Pasqua First Nations on the K+S and Enbridge Pipeline projects, Park Derochie Coatings (Saskatchewan) Inc. has made 2 donations to the Pasqua First Nations School.
$25,000 was donated in support of the school's Hot Lunch Program, to provide funding for a full year of operation of the ‘Park Derochie Community Kitchen’, ensuring that all students receive a nutritious meal each day.
An additional $25,000 was also donated to the “Youth Development Program” to assist with student participation in the FSIN Summer Games and North America Games which encourage more participation among First Nation youth in mainstream and traditional sports, to promote a greater awareness of positive healthy lifestyles and boost local community involvement.
President, Doug Barker, said that he believes “ our partnership with Pasqua First Nations, has provided Park Derochie a substantial opportunity to work within our Aboriginal Engagement program. This allows PDS and the Union to hire First Nations people and not only ensure quality labour for Park Derochie and our clients, but further provides an equal opportunity for First Nations people to work within a company that treats each person with fairness and respect. We have seen First Nations / Metis people within our organization flourish in the opportunities given them and they have truly assisted in Park Derochies’ growth in Saskatchewan."
This donation reflects our commitment to fostering partnerships within the province and our overall company culture of “Giving back to the Community”. It is our long held belief that supporting youth benefits not only the child, but the family and the communities in which we live.
