Giving back to the Community has always been an important part of Park Derochie’s unique corporate culture. In May and June of 2016 this was made evident once more as PD Group’s companies, employees and vendors came together to raise funds for the Fort McMurray Wild Fires, the MS Bike Tour, and the local charities supported by the 12th annual Merle Derochie Invitational Golf Tournament. Park Derochie considers these donations not an obligation but a privilege, and is proud to announce that in the last two months over $300,000 have been donated to these initiatives.
This May when the tragic wild fires tore through Fort McMurray, destroying large portions of the city and disrupting countless individuals’ lives, PD Group of Companies called out to its employees to join with them in sending aid. They announced all corporate and employee donations made to the Red Cross between May 3 and May 20, would be matched by PD Group of Companies.
Park Derochie employees proved to be truly remarkable with the outpouring of personal donations adding up to $33,225. Corporate donations totaling $37,500 were also raised, and the $70,725 total was then matched by PD Group of companies. Additional support from both the Albertan and Canadian Government, matching personal donations, brought the grand total raised to an outstanding $207,900 donated. Park Derochie is proud and humbled by the support of everyone that contributed.
On June 11th and 12th, Park Derochie participated in its 3rd annual Johnson MS Bike Tour with its team the PD Slow Riders. Consisting of 42 riders and 19 volunteers, the PD Slow Riders joined over 2000 cyclists to conquer 180 km in two days, cycling from Leduc to Camrose and back. The weather was a definite challenge, that some would describe as mother nature’s arsenal. Riders endured pouring rain and gusty winds on top of sore muscles and tired bodies. However, all was worth it when they crossed the finish line Sunday, attaining their goal.
The PD Slow Riders raised just over $53,000 keeping their place as the 4th top raising team out of 211. Jeff Granberg, Owner and CEO of PD Group of Companies, is also the 7th top fundraiser of 2037 riders this year, raising an outstanding $13,000. The 2016 MS Bike Tour has currently raised just under $2 million, but will continuing to fund raise until September 30, 2016 in effort to reach their goal of $2.2 million.
